- Removed the rotor and runner
- Repaired the runner, generator guide, thrust bearings and the turbine guide bearings
- Replaced all oil and cooling water piping
- Reassembled and aligned the unit
Lean, Innovative and Unique Project Solutions
The onsite team worked through logistical challenges to complete the Unit #3 Overhaul successfully. The access / approach to the power house was difficult with steep, narrow and crooked access, which was only made worse during the harsh winter conditions. Through the use of activity planning, ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP was able to minimize and reduce the logistical hazards. Additionally, the field crew faced and overcame other onsite challenges including the use of a temporary high lift system to aide in the rotation of the unit as well as performing engineered “over capacity lifts” with the existing hand operated house crane to accommodate the increased weight difference for the new unit.
